Deployment Related Activities

DEPLOYMENT is defined as: ANY WORK RELATED SEPARATION (i.e. away on courses, training, IR, short and long deployments) Below are highlights of upcoming deployment activities. Please see our calendar for a listing of all activities & events the Centre offers.

Child care is provided at no cost to you for all deployment-related workshops.

Are you experiencing a work related separation due to IR, courses, exercises or short-term deployment? If so, come join us for dinner, connect with other military families and discuss the joys and challenges of your loved ones deployment. Casual care is available for children 5 and under. There will be other fun activities for children 6 and up. Don’t worry we’ll feed the children too..

Saturday Casual Care
Ages: 3 months to 12 years
Register for this program as early as possible because spaces are limited and fill up quickly. Experiencing deployment? Let us know as respite hours can be used.
Halifax  May 5 and June 210:00am – 3:00pm
Shearwater: Saturday,  10:00am – 3:00pm
Cost: $5/hr for children under 18 months, $4/hr for children over 18 months
Registration Deadline: Wednesday before the session.

Stress.calm

Military families experiencing deployment This interactive program  offers a proven and effective, skills-based approach to managing stress. Through self-awareness, behaviour change and skill-building, participants will explore the link between stress and performance, examine stress within a military context, and learn about the stress response. Various relaxation and stress management techniques and strategies will be explored and practiced. Childcare will be provided at no cost to participants.

Families & friends of HMCS Charlottetown: CO’s Monthly Family Briefing/VTCs/Pot Luck Supper Event

H&R MFRC Halifax Site – Large Multi-Purpose Room
Please join us for the CO’s Monthly Family Briefing. The CO will call at 3:00pm and provide us with a power point presentation of the ship’s happenings since they departed Halifax. Following the presentation, we will enjoy a Pot Luck supper and some good conversation. Upon registration, please indicate what you will be bringing for the potluck supper. Families are to call 427-7788 to register both for this event & casual care if required.
