Children & Deployment

Do you have children who are experiencing the deployment of a loved one? Join us for this interactive workshop as we identify the different types of effects that deployment separation can have on children of different ages. As a group, we will also share strategies of how parents can support children through separation, increase knowledge of stress through a child’s view and how deployment can affect a child physically and emotionally. This is a great opportunity to connect with other parents who are experiencing deployment within their families, as well as learn some new stress management strategies you can use with your children.

Ages & Stages Questionnaires:

The first five years of life are very important as this is the time children will learn to think, communicate, move, problem-solve, and interact positively with others. Questionnaires ask a variety of questions about what a child can and cannot do, are filled out by the parent at home, and take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

As early as 2 months of age, you can begin to receive questionnaires in the mail. Once you have completed the questionnaire, return it to the centre. We will score it and provide you with feedback about your child’s development in the areas of communication, gross motor (big muscle), fine motor (small muscle), problem-solving, and personal-social. Each questionnaire comes with fun activities that you can do with your child for each area of development.
