Fundraising
The Halifax & Region MFRC is a not for profit organization that depends on fundraising and donations from a variety of sources to maintain and continue to improve on the level of services we provide.
A Star To Guide Them Home – gift cards to support MFRC
“A Star To Guide Them Home” is an original painting by Mrs. Fay Maddison. The theme and art work is from Natasha’s fairy world from the Natasha’s Wood project.
A Fox and A Fairy, in cooperation with Eprintit Halifax, has donated gift cards, based on the original painting of “A Star To Guide Them Home” to the MFRC. Profits from the sale of these gift cards will be given directly back to the MFRC.
These can be purchased in packages of 10 for $12 or 20 cards for $20. Cards are blank inside, good for any occasion.

Fundraising:
As a registered charitable organization, H&RMFRC relies on community support and fundraising to provide many other services to our families. In 2010 we offered 2,136 programs with over 20,000 participants. As we enhance this level of programming each year, the cost of offering these special MFRC programs continues to rise. One of the largest pieces of misinformation about the MFRC is that we are fully funded by the government, or that we are a government agency. Neither is true. While government funding does support a portion of our operating costs, approximately 40% of our revenues come from fundraising and user fees supporting many programs and services including:
* Welcome and Community Orientation activities – for new CF families posted in the community
* Emergency Housing and Emergency Funds – for when life throws you a curve ball
* Deployment Support and Assistance – keeping CF families informed, supported and connected during operations
* Casual Childcare Services – for when families need to take a break or run a few errands
* Youth Initiatives (Youth Centres, Summer Camps) – teaching CF youth new skills and keeping them challenged and connected to other CF youth
* Parenting Support and Workshops – helping parents find ways to support children with unique challenges of CF lifestyle
* Second Language Services – a vital link for many of our Francophone families
Without the generosity of corporations, many of these programs would cease to exist for our families. We hope that you will support us in continuing to provide programs and services that benefit our families.
