Shearwater Site

The Shearwater Children’s Centre is a licensed childcare program with the Department of Early Childhood Development Services and the Department of Community Services. The Shearwater Children’s Centre has 161 spaces and offers a wide variety of programs, as described below. We accept portable subsidy. All full day programs provide two snacks and lunch daily. Hours of Operation are from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Summer hours: 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

Infant Program
Capacity: 8 spaces
Teacher:Child Ratio – 1:4
Age Range: 3-18 months
Fee: $704/mo
Infants learn through exploration of their environment. This program offers stimulating experiences with age-appropriate toys and equipment and activities that are designed to promote infant development.

Toddler Program
Capacity: 36 spaces
Teacher:Child Ratio – 1:6
Age Range: 18 months -3.5 years
Fee: $638/mo
An active, stimulating program offering a variety of experiences to enhance child development including arts & crafts, songs, stories, and outdoor activities. The children will also enjoy weekly swimming, outings, field trips, gym time and special events.

Daycare Program (Full Day Preschool)
Capacity: 48 spaces
Teacher:Child Ratio – 1:8
Age Range: 3 – 5 years
Fee: $594/mo
This is an active program with age appropriate toys and equipment. We offer weekly swimming and skating, outings, arts & crafts, gym time, field trips and special events. The environment is designed to enhance all areas of child development as well as promote independence through self help skills.

Part-day Preschool Program
Capacity: 24 spaces
Teacher:Child Ratio – 1:12
Age Range: 3 – 5 years
Fee: 3 Day English (4 – 5 years): Mon, Wed & Fri Mornings ~ $95/month ($100 civilian)
2 Day English (3 – 4 years): Tues & Thurs Mornings ~ $75/month ($80 civilian)
We provide an active program with stimulating activities and an environment which is designed to enhance all areas of child development. We offer age appropriate toys and equipment, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, field trips and special events.

Before & Afterschool Program
Capacity: 45 spaces
Teacher:Child Ratio – 1:15
Age Range: 5 – 12 years
Fee: $15/day
We also provide care for in-service days, storm days and March Break. This is an active program offering a variety of experiences including arts & crafts, gym time, computers, outdoor activities, outings, special events and socialization. Bus service is provided to Tallahasse Community School, Seaside Elementary School, Eastern Passage Education Centre, and École du Carrefour and École Bois-Joli.
