The weather forecast for our first ever Winter Festival is looking good! The air will be cool for events planned outside* and it’ll be nice and warm inside where you can enjoy refreshments, speak with community partners, and even shop a little with some local vendors. With all of the fun times planned, including a chili cook-off, ball hockey tournament, bon fire, and more, we are sure you will enjoy your Saturday with us. When a member of your family joins the military it can sometimes be a confusing new world to understand. This fun and interactive virtual workshop offers a 1-hour introduction to the military and the military lifestyle. These workshops show students of all ages how to find scholarship dollars, and provides pointers on how to write the winning scholarship essay. This series shows that scholarships are for everyone from 16 to 96 and from entry level post secondary to doctorate degrees. Did you know that there are more than 7 million dollars of scholarships that go unclaimed each year simply because no one has applied? Come and ask questions to learn the qualities that organizations offering scholarships are looking for. This family play group provides an opportunity for caregivers to interact and build skills with their children through play, and also for families to connect with one another in an engaging environment. Through play, transitions, circle time songs and activities, and informal conversations, parents learn about developmental ages and stages, gain tools to help understand their child’s behaviour, and prepare the family and child for school.

Friday Free Play provides a space for parents to play, explore and create with their children in a community space. Parents and children will have free access to the toys and art materials in the space; however, a facilitator will not be present, so there will be no access to the gym. Parents are responsible for providing their own peanut free snack, if desired, and clean up of the space. Best suited for children twelve months to five years.

He shoots, he scores! Join us for a good ol’ hockey game. We will meet at the Youth Centre and take the city bus to the Scotiabank Centre to watch the Halifax Mooseheads. After the game, we will bus back to the Youth Centre for pick up. Cost covers transportation (bus tickets) and game ticket, treat money is optional.
